Kovid-19’s uptick was generally positive amid tests of more than 20 election observers.

Election Commission (EC) officials said on Saturday that more than 20 election observers in West Bengal have tested positive for Kovid-19 since the end of the second phase of the assembly elections on 1 April. This statement also came when the state reported a thousand new Kovid cases for the third straight day. Commission sources said that some of the 20 tested positive before the test, while most were part of the voting process and are now in isolation. Soon observers will be replaced.

 Like the rest of the country, the Kovid-19 cases are again increasing rapidly in West Bengal. On Saturday, the state health department said that 1,736 new cases were registered in 24 hours till 9 am.

\ Five deaths – in Kolkata, Hooghly and North 24 Parganas – increased the statewide toll to 10,340. According to health officials, a total of 26 in 24 hours, 114 specimens were tested. Doctors have said that the current increase in cases is worrisome and the situation may worsen if proper preventive action is not taken

. To prevent the spread of the disease, the EC mandated basic steps such as social disturbances, thermal scanning, sanitation, and the use of masks. Due to the epidemic, the polling body has brought down the maximum number of voters in a polling station from 1,500 to 1,000 and increased the number of polling stations. However, health officials suspect that Kovid’s cases will increase further due to regular gatherings and political campaigning. He has directed the district administration and the Election Commission to strictly follow the security protocol. Meanwhile, state health officials said 1,562 vaccine sessions were held on Saturday. “A total of 73, 493 citizens have been vaccinated today [including first and second doses] Director of Health Services Dr. Ajay Chakraborty said that so far a total of 55.95 lakh people have been vaccinated. .
