Monsoon arrived in Rajasthan 8 days ago; IMD issues very heavy rain warning for UP, MP and Bihar

After a break of five days, the Southwest Monsoon made some progress on Friday with vigorous performance over many parts of the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the monsoon has now advanced and entered southeast Rajasthan, covering most areas of Gujarat and more areas of both Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh on Friday. With this the monsoon has reached Gujarat and even Rajasthan this year seven to eight days ahead of its scheduled time. For example, Dholpur, located in eastern Rajasthan, is where the monsoon enters the desert state, and the normal onset date is June 28. During the day the northern boundary of the monsoon is over Junagadh, Deesa, Guna, Kanpur, Meerut, Ambala and Amritsar. Meanwhile, Southwest Monsoon continues to be vigorous over West Coast and along Gangetic West Bengal. Some of the warmest areas and 24-hour rainfall recorded on Friday were: Matheran – 227 mm, Dahanu – 219 mm, Agumbe – 148 mm, Daman – 141 mm, Lonavala – 134 mm, Valsad – 133 mm, Mahabaleshwar – 111 mm, Surat – 103 mm, Varanasi – 100 mm, Gangtok – 95 mm, Meerut – 85 mm, Bareilly – 74 mm and Bhavnagar – 72 mm. An offshore trough lies between Maharashtra and Kerala which is conducing to westerly winds. Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall (64.4 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours) is very likely to occur over Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat, Coastal and South Karnataka till Monday. A Low Pressure System over Southwest Bihar and adjoining Uttar Pradesh and a Cyclonic Circulation over Bangladesh will bring heavy rains over Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, East Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh till Tuesday. . With the passage of a new current of Western Disturbance, The IMD has warned of extremely heavy rain (more than 204.4 mm in 24 hours) in West and East Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. The IMD said that due to availability of favorable conditions, further advance of Monsoon is expected over North Arabian Sea, Gujarat and remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh, South Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh during next 24 hours. .
