The structure of Babri Masjid was demolished on this day 29 years ago in Ayodhya. After this there were violent incidents and the disputed matter reached the Supreme Court, after which in the year 2019, the Supreme Court heard the case and gave its verdict and put an end to the dispute forever. On this occasion, let us know… what happened 29 years ago on the day of this incident on 6th December, 1992, how was the morning of that day, what was the preparation and how was the structure demolished? Preparations were already made to demolish the Babri structure. The exercise was also done for this on the morning of 5 December. According to the Liberhan Commission set up in 2009, the exercise was conducted to demolish the disputed structure.
Some photographs related to this were presented before the commission. After the hustle and bustle of the whole day, it happened the next morning i.e. on the morning of 6th December. Slogans like ‘Jai Shri Ram’, ‘Ram Lalla we will come, the temple will be built there’, ‘One push and two…’ were echoing. Crowd was gathering from all around. Many veteran leaders were present on the stage in front. A big stage was set up in Ramkatha Kunj, about 200 meters to the east of Babri Masjid. Here the stage was prepared for senior leaders, sages and saints. This stage was prepared right in front of the disputed structure, where LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Vinay Katiyar, Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti, Kalraj Mishra, Ashok Singhal, Ramchandra Paramhans were present. It was 9 in the morning, Worship was going on. Bhajans and kirtans were going on.
DM-SP were all there. Around 12 o’clock the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police of Faizabad also visited the ‘Babri Masjid Ram Janmabhoomi Complex’. But he failed to sense the coming storm and in no time the atmosphere completely changed. Actually, the preparation of VHP was only for cleanliness and worship in the temple premises. But, the kar sevaks did not agree with this. Then suddenly a large crowd of kar sevaks entered the disputed site amid the echo of slogans. After that the rioting started. The mob climbed onto the Babri structure. Now people had reached around the domes. In his hands were things like ballam, spade, chisel-hammer, with the help of which he was going to demolish the structure.
However, a lot of effort was made to stop the crowd moving forward with spade-shovel, during which they also clashed with the people of the Sangh. But, where was the crowd going to stop? Whose hand came running with the mix and the dome was demolished. The first dome fell at two o’clock, the first dome fell at around two o’clock. There were reports that some people were buried under the first dome. After this, from four to five o’clock all the domes were brought down. During this, CRPF tried to stop the kar sevaks but stones started pelting them, after which they had to retreat. This happened even after all the security arrangements and the state’s Kalyan Singh government kept watching. Actually, the court had issued an order that there would be no construction work on the disputed site and the head of the state, Kalyan Singh also assured the Supreme Court. That the orders of the court would be followed. But everything proved to be a failure in front of the kar sevaks.
