Recently, 17-year-old Miram Taron was kidnapped by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China from Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. Now that young man has been handed back to India by the Chinese army. This has been confirmed by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju. He told that China has handed over the youth to the Indian Army. Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju tweeted, “The PLA of China has handed over the youth of Arunachal Pradesh, Miram Taron to the Indian Army.
All the procedures, including medical tests, are being completed.” According to the report of news agency ANI, Miram Taron was handed over to the Indian Army at Vacha Damai in Arunachal Pradesh. Earlier on 23 January 2022, China acknowledged that it has Miram Taron. Colonel Harshvardhan Pandey, Defense PRO of Army’s 4 Corps Headquarters had told that after talks between the two armies, an agreement has been reached.
It is noteworthy that on 20 January 2022, the Chinese army kidnapped Miram Taron. After this, the Government of India took up the matter with China and demanded its immediate release, but later the Chinese Foreign Ministry flatly refused it. Even before this, the Chinese Army PLA has done such an act. Earlier in September 2020, five people were kidnapped by the Chinese Army from Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Later, the then Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju had ensured his release. At the same time, after the case of Mirang Taron came to the fore, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had raised questions on the ability of the Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, while speaking abusively. He had tweeted and said, “A few days before Republic Day, a fortune maker of India has been kidnapped by China, we are with the family of Miram Taron and will not give up hope, will not give up. PM’s stupid silence is his statement – he doesn’t care!”
