Now the Modi government has moved in the direction of Common Civil Code,

After taking steps on Article 370 of the Constitution related to Ram Mandir and Jammu and Kashmir, the Modi government at the Center is now seen to be busy in its next mission. The government is now going to take steps towards implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), which is included in the agenda of the BJP. Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju has indicated this. It is believed that this can be implemented before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. All Muslim organizations oppose Uniform Civil Code.

In view of this, the responsibility of finding a solution to the issue can be given to the 22nd Law Commission. Let us tell you that a private bill on Uniform Civil Code was introduced in the Rajya Sabha only yesterday. During the winter session of Parliament last year, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey raised the issue of Uniform Civil Code in the Lok Sabha. He had said that all the courts of the country including the Supreme Court have also asked for the implementation of Uniform Civil Code. Apart from this, it has also been said in the Directive Principles of the Constitution of the country.

The government will take steps to implement the Uniform Civil Code. On this question of Nishikant Dubey, on 31 January this year, the Law Minister has said that Article 44 of the Constitution talks about implementing a uniform code for all citizens. The Law Commission was given the responsibility of doing a detailed study of all its provisions. The work of the commission ended on 31 August 2018. Now this matter can be referred to the new Law Commission.

Let us inform that the All India Muslim Personal Law Board AIMPLB, which has made rules and regulations for Muslims, has said many times that it does not accept Uniform Civil Code in any case. The reason for this is that if the Uniform Civil Code is implemented, then the rules and regulations for Muslims will stop being made separately. There will be same law for all the citizens of the country. With this, the issues of marriage and divorce of Muslims will also not remain separate. At present, for marriage and divorce among Muslims, steps are taken according to the Shariat.
