Professor Shantisree Dhulipudi Pandit becomes first woman Vice Chancellor of JNU

The outgoing Vice-Chancellor handed over the charge to Professor Shantisree Dhulipudi Pandit and wished him success in his new role. Professor Shantisree Dhulipudi Pandit was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. She is fluent in Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Hindi, Sanskrit, English, Kannada, Malayalam and Konkani languages. He did his schooling from Chennai in which he secured first rank in the state. Diploma in Social Work from California State University, B.A. in History and Social Psychology in 1983 from Presidency College, Madras. She was university first rank and gold medalist.

Professor Shantisree Dhulipudi Pandit did his post graduation M.A. in 1985. Political Science from Presidency College. Pre Doctoral Degree – M.Phil in International Relations Papers and Resertation from Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1986. Doctoral PhD in International Relations Thesis on ‘In Parliament and Foreign Policy’ India Nehru Year Jawaharlal Nehru University, School of International Relations. After the decision taken by the Ministry of Education, now the post of Vice Chancellor of two big central universities of Delhi is being adorned by women. Earlier, Professor Najma Akhtar was made the Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia.

At the same time, Professor Shantisree Dhulipudi Pandit has been made the Vice-Chancellor of JNU. Professor M Jagadesh Kumar has been appointed as the chairman of UGC for the next 5 years. Professor M Jagadesh Kumar was the Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University since 2016. His tenure at Jawaharlal Nehru University ended on 26 January 2021 last year. After the end of his tenure, he was given an extension of service. Now Professor Jagdish Kumar has been made the chairman of UGC.
