Big announcement of Modi government on these 3 states of Northeast, this decision was taken regarding AFSPA

Ever since the Modi government came to power, it has been working for the welfare of the people and development of the country. The government is completing every work present in the country which was left incomplete by the previous governments. Continuing this sequence, now after decades, the Government of India has reduced the scope of ‘disturbed area’ in the Northeast. Yes, the area under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) has been reduced in Assam, Nagaland and Manipur. On Thursday afternoon, Union Home Minister Amit Shah informed about this decision in a series of tweets.

Giving credit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah said that this step of the government is the result of the improving security situation and rapid development in the North East. Along with this, Amit Shah while congratulating the people of the Northeast said that this part of India was ignored for decades but the Modi government is now focused on it. Let us tell you, just a day ago, steps have been taken towards resolving the 50-year-old border dispute between Assam and Meghalaya.

On Tuesday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma signed the agreement in the presence of Home Minister Amit Shah. Both the states share a border of 885 km. Let us tell you, there was a border dispute between them regarding 12 places. In the year 1958, AFSPA was passed by the Parliament. The full form of AFSPA is The Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 (AFSPA). AFSPA came into force on September 11, 1958.
Initially, it was imposed in those areas of Northeast and Punjab which were declared as ‘disturbed areas’. Most of these ‘disturbed areas’ were bordered by Pakistan, China, Bangladesh and Myanmar. As of September 2017, AFSPA was in force in about 40 per cent of Meghalaya. Later, after the review of the Ministry of Home Affairs, it was decided by the state government to completely withdraw AFSPA from Meghalaya. What are the powers of the forces? Through AFSPA, security forces have many powers. For example, the center or governor can implement AFSPA in the whole state or any part of it.

Under this (AFSPA), the Armed Forces also get the right to fire at those who go against the law or are carrying arms, ammunition. The right to arrest without a warrant is also available through AFSPA. Security forces can also search through it without a warrant. For this, no legal action can be taken against them (security forces). If any action is taken under AFSPA, the soldiers also get relief from trial in a way because no case can be prosecuted against the soldiers and no legal action can be taken on the action taken under it.
