India has focused on infrastructure, connectivity and humanitarian aid for decades. After August 2021, India is already providing 60 million doses of polio vaccine, along with 17,000 metric tons of wheat, 5,00,000 doses of XHT1D, 13 tons of essential life-saving drugs and winter clothing, out of a total commitment of 50,000 metric tons. Addressing the 4th Regional Security Dialogue on Afghanistan in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval informed his Central Asian counterparts in strong words that India will continue to be an important stakeholder in Afghanistan.
NSAs from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan as well as Russia and China participated in the dialogue. NSA Doval also reiterated India’s position on the distribution of aid to all sections of the society. He highlighted, “Aid should be accessible to all, all obligations under international humanitarian law must be ensured.” Emphasizing on the rights of women in this meeting, Doval said, “Women and youth are important for the future of any society. The provision of education to girls and employment to women and youth will ensure productivity and development.”
India has been a country that has acted as a creative force in war-ravaged Afghanistan.
