27 February (Dialogue) Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that ‘Hunar Haat’ is proving to be a ‘Kumbhon of skills’ and it is ‘effective, perfect, authentic’ in making ‘Vocal for Local’ a ‘Mass Movement’. ‘Is playing a role.
The next Hunar Haat will be held from 12 to 21 March in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
Mr. Naqvi told a press conference today at the 26th ‘Hunar Haat’ organized by the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium that “Hunar Haat” is proving to be a “Kumbhon of skills”.
He said that so far more than 12 lakh people have become proud of the ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign in ‘Hunar Haat’ which started from 20 February. It is expected that this number will go above 16 lakhs in the coming two days. ‘Hunar Haat’ will conclude on 01 March.
The Union Minister said that this 10-day ‘Hunar Haat’ held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium was inaugurated by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. Till now many Union ministers, Members of Parliament, senior bureaucrats, diplomats of various countries, well-known industrialists, artisans, craftsmen, artists have come to cheer. ‘Hunar Haat’ includes Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Odisha, More than 600 artisans, artisans, artisans from over 31 states / union territories including Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal joined with spectacular indigenous products.
He said that in ‘Hunar Haat’, these artisans use appliqué work, dry flowers, cane-bamboo, brass, jute products, indigenous toys made of wood-clay, ajrakh block print, blue art pottery, Pashmina shawl, Khadi items, Banarsi Silk, wooden furniture, chikankari embroidery, chanderi silk, lac bangles, Rajasthani jewelery, phulkari, oil painting, leather products, pottery of Khurja, sandalwood art from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, jute goods from West Bengal; Rare glass artifacts; Great indigenous products like mats, carpets, carpets etc. were brought with them for sale and exhibition.
