‘Misleading, wrong’: Center reacts after India is ‘partially liberated’ on global freedom

The government on Friday terminated the report of the Freedom House, a Washington-based think tank, which called India’s independence score “free” to “partially free”, as “misleading, inaccurate and inaccurate”, while India has all Civilians were treated without discrimination.

 The Freedom House report had lowered India’s score from 71 to 67, ranking the 100 most free country. The report noted that rights and civil liberties have been eroding since Narendra Modi became prime minister in 2014, specifically citing the government’s coronovirus response, including attacks on Muslims, use of sedition laws and lockdowns

 In a statement, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) offered a rebuttal to the specific points mentioned in the report, including discriminatory policies against Muslims, last year’s North East Delhi riots, sedition law, Coronovirus lockdown, others included.
