Swapna Suresh accuses Kerala CM, speaker in dollar smuggling case: customs duty to HC

 Suresh had also alleged that the Chief Minister had a close relationship with the previous Consul General of the United Arab Emirates and made a statement that illegal monetary transactions had been made, it said. The affidavit claimed, “He has stated clearly about the smuggling of foreign exchange in collaboration with the Honorable Chief Minister and the Hon’ble Speaker.

” The dollar case relates to the alleged smuggling of 1,90,000 (equivalent to Rs 1.30 crore) in Oman in Muscat in Thiruvananthapuram by the UAE’s former finance chief. 

In the gold smuggling case, Suresh and co-accused Sarith PS are also involved in the Dollar case and they were already arrested by the Customs. In his customs statements, Suresh also claimed that he had a close relationship with the Chief Minister and his principal secretary and a private employee, The agency’s affidavit states. Customs said that with the cooperation of Hon’ble Chief Minister and Hon’ble Speaker, he has stated clearly about the smuggling of foreign currency. 

The affidavit was filed in response to a petition filed by the state government challenging some remarks in the order of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (Economic Offenses) court granting protection to Suresh, who is currently the Women’s Jail and Correctional Home in Thiruvananthapuram.
