Dushyant Chautala 8 km away – From Hisar Airport to Hisar City – Farmer Block Road

A group of protesting farmers on Thursday forced Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala to take a helicopter from the Hisar Airport to Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University – just 8 kilometers away – in the town from where he ran on a road. Official ceremonies proceeded through the road to pick up. The protesters, including a large number of women, also chased Chautala for several hours in Hisar and left for the next destination only after leaving the city. Chautala was a participant in various events in Hisar. Farmers who started declaring social boycott of the leaders from the BJP-JJP alliance to express their displeasure against the three central agricultural laws, started visiting Hisar in the morning.

Heavy security was deployed outside Hisar Airport and at other places to transfer Chautala to the city. Sources Said that Chautala, who landed at 12.40 pm, stayed inside the airport for at least two hours, even after the protesting farmers announced that they would not allow him to participate in functions in the city. As the farmers refused, Chautala boarded a helicopter for the local Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University at 3 pm. From the university, Chautala, via road, drove to the local Mini Secretariat where he attended an official ceremony. From there he went to attend the wedding ceremony of boxer Pinky Jangra in Azad Nagar. Then, on the way he went to a relative in Sector-13, In which the peasants showed black flags to their horsemen on the way. A large number of farmers also reached the residence of Gherao Chautala in the Urban Estate.

The police had set up barricades on the roads leading to his residence since morning. Sources said that the farmers broke through the police barricade and reached near their house, where they were shouting slogans. Chautala, however, reached the university at 5:15 pm and boarded the helicopter again to proceed to his next destination. Vikas Cesar, a farmer leader, said the farmers broke two barricades near Chautala’s residence in the Urban Estate. He said that the farmer remained near his residence till 6:30 pm. A senior official of the Hisar administration claimed that “the deputy CM attended all the programs as per his schedule”. State JJP President, Vyasat Singh, meanwhile said that the government should resolve the farmers’ issue. “The government should listen to their grievances and consider it sympathetically.

His close friend Jagdish Sihag also faced protests thrice in recent times. Chautala represents Uchana constituency in the Legislative Assembly. In 2014, he was elected a Member of Parliament from Hisar Lok Sabha seat. However, he lost the seat to the BJP in the 2019 parliamentary elections. in present, JJP is a junior coalition partner in the coalition government of Haryana led by Manohar Lal Khattar. Farmers are opposing JJP leaders to support the BJP government on the issue of three agricultural laws. They are demanding that the JJP should link up with the BJP as Chautala did well in the 2019 assembly elections mainly due to the support of the farming community. Khattar also faced farmer protests and his helicopter was not allowed to land at Kaimla village in Karnal district in January this year. .
