Burqa will be banned in MP schools amid ruckus in Karnataka? Education Minister said – this is not part of the uniform, the dress code will be applicable

The controversy that started in a college in Karnataka to sit in class wearing a burqa has alerted various states. In this sequence, the Madhya Pradesh government is contemplating to ban the hijab. State School Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar has said that students will be allowed to wear only school dress and hijab is not a part of school dress. The School Education Department will now inspect the schools and see if the school guidelines are being followed.

On Tuesday, the School Education Minister, when the media questioned the hijab in schools, clearly said that hijab is not a school dress. Looking at the entire issue of Karnataka, he said that the department is working on a uniform dress code and it has nothing to do with any religion or community. Parmar said in the video statement that the department is working on the dress code of the school which is only to bring about uniformity and equality. On the question of hijab being banned, Parmar said that the uniform does not belong to any community, it is for everyone.

Congress MLA from Bhopal Central, Arif Masood has reacted on this whole matter. He has described this entire statement of the minister as sad. Arif Masood says that girls look good when they are covered. He said that Parmar should think at the level of education. It is a fact that hijab has never done any harm to education in the last 70 years. There was a time when people were advised to wear masks. The Congress MLA said that if something like this is implemented then it will be opposed.

It is noteworthy that the entire controversy, which started with PU College located in Udupi, Karnataka, has now brought the state to headlines. The same subject was heard in the Karnataka High Court yesterday while CM Bommai said, “I urge all the school-colleges students, teachers and management as well as the people of Karnataka to maintain peace and harmony in the state. I have issued an order to close all colleges and high schools for the next 3 days.

Note: Even though this protest is being organized in the name of ‘Hijab’, Muslim girl students can be seen entering educational institutions in burqa and protesting. It is clear from this that this is not only about the hijab that covers the neck and head, but it is about the burqa that is worn all over the body. The hijab is meant to cover the head, whereas the burqa is from head to toe. In many Islamic countries, the burqa is mandatory according to the Sharia. Media/activists may link the ongoing protest in Karnataka with hijab, it is happening for burqa.
